How to stay Positive when you just lost your job

Believe it or not it is possible to find positive thoughts after a horrible catasrophy such as losing your job.  I should know.  After over 17 years working at a company as a Sales/Customer Service Specialist, I was called into a boardroom with 2 guys in suits, the owner and my supervisor.

I already knew something was going to happen.  My intuition has never steered me wrong.  It's one of those eery, deja vu kinds of intuition too.  So it felt like it had already happened and thankfully I was prepared.

I took the news well. Smiled.  Hugged my boss and quietly packed up 17 years of stash from my desk and was escorted from the building.  Knowing I was one of several, made me feel bad for those that did not take it very well.

What did I do? First thing I did was call my husband.  He took the news very well.  He knew how much stress that my employment had caused me and how underappreciated I felt for many years.

Second thing was personally email some of my customers who I worked with for so many years.  I had to tell them first hand why I didn't give them a heads up that I left.  Did I bad mouth the company? No.  I'm an adult.  It was never my company. You can't get anywhere in life by lashing out when things don't go your way. I know,  you may think I'm a saint.  No, definitely not. I learned to be positive and have always made an effort to find the good in a situation.

Third thing I did was sign up for unemployment immediately because of the whole waiting period they withhold from you.  I then began reaching out to individuals who had offered me a job and one point or another, I applied to several "fun" jobs, several "I wouldn't mind doing that" and last but not least "part-time" jobs.

I got a few calls but nothing seemed to pan out.  In the meantime, I focused on taking all the free classes I could, along with watching all kinds of webinars that I found online.

Needless to say I found a love and passion for Marketing.  I also realized all the things I did wrong when I tried to publish years prior..... PUBLISH... What an ephinay I had!  Over the last several years from publishing my first novel and until the present time last year, I was too engrossed with life itself.  We moved several times due to selling a house, moving into a temporary house, then finding a permanent house. My husband had 2 surgeries in less than a year by the time I was let go.  I had forgotten my passion for writing.  I decided at that moment that I was going to get back into writing again.  And so I did...

But... what was I going to do for an income.  Going from a 2 income household to a 1 income, just wasn't going to work.  So I decided to look into direct sales.

I did direct sales at several occasions throughout my lifetime but back then there was no social media for most of my endeavors and the one company that I was even remotely successful at, we weren't allowed to promote on Social Media.  Boy has the times changed since then.

I found my perfect niche.  Most of my sales come from Social Media Platforms.  Although I have sighned up for a couple vendor events, most of my revenue comes from me being home and going "live" on Facebook.  Let me tell you that it is so much easier to connect with people now-a-days.
