Free Chemistry Flask Crocket Pattern

Flask

Free Pattern by Kimber Shook



Materials:

Beads, Rhinestones or Brads
Black Embroidery Floss
Glue
Hook Size G
Jumbo cotton balls (8-10)
Scissors
Sewing Needle
Worsted Weight Yarn - Color
Worsted Weight Yarn - White

Abbreviations:

Ch - Chain
Dc -Double Crochet
Dec - Decrease
Ea - Each
Sc - Single Crochet
Sl St - Slip Stitch

Directions:

Start with a Magic Ring, sl st; ch 1;
Row 1:  6 sc in magic ring; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (6 sc)
Row 2:  2 sc in ea sc around; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (12 sc)
Row 3:  *2 sc in 1st sc; sc; *repeat around; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (18 sc)
Row 4:  *2 sc in 1st sc; sc; sc; *repeat around; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (24 sc)
Row 5:  *2 sc in 1st sc; sc; sc; sc; *repeat around; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (30 sc)
Row 6:  *2 sc in 1st sc; sc; sc; sc; sc; *repeat around; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (36 sc)
Row 7:  *Dec sc; sc in next 5 sc; *repeat around; sc in last sc; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (31 sc)
Row 8:  *Dec sc; sc in next 4 sc; *repeat around; sc in last sc; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (26 sc)
Row 9:  *Dec sc; sc in next 3 sc; *repeat around; sc in last sc; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (21 sc)

Row 12:  Change to white yarn, Sc around; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1 (15 sc) (Tip - At this point, I stuff with several cotton balls.)
Row 13: *Dec sc; sc in next 1 sc; *repeat around; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (10 sc)
Row 14-18:  Sc around; sl st to beginning sc; ch 1; (10 sc)
Row 19:  Sl st in next 5 sc; (sc, ch1); sl st in remaining 4 sc; sl st to beginning sc; end off; weave in ends; 

Assembly:

Stuff 8-10 cotton balls inside flask. Glue two rhinestones or beads (or attach brads) in the center of row 9 or 10 and let dry; Using needle and embroidery floss, sew a curved stitch for mouth, knot and hide ends inside test tube.  (Helpful hint: I dip needle tip in glue and run between the floss and flask to help hold “mouth” in place. Clean off needle for future use.)

Alternate ideas:

Change to white yarn anywhere - just be sure to add eyes & mouth on bottom colored portion.
Add a cork in the top of flask, if desired.
